IDENTIFICATION
PSYCHROLUTES marcidus. Common name: Blobfish
PSYCHROLUTES marcidus. Common name: Blobfish
SYNTHESIS
LIST: 3 things that a blob fish makes inside its body are cells, DNA and urine.
PROCESS IT USES TO MAKE ENERGY;
RESPIRATION
C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂ → 6CO₂ + 6H₂O + energy
INORGANIC-water, carbon, oxygen, glucose
ORGANIC- energy
REGULATION
The blobfish is eukaryotic. Its eukaryotic because like everything that is not bacteria, it has a nucleus. Also unlike prokaryotes it has a plasma membrane. Finally it separates replicated chromosomes by mitosis unlike prokaryotes that use binary fusion.
The four factors (abiotic and biotic) that negatively impact the health of a blobfish are water pollution(abiotic), bad location (abiotic), lack of mollusks and shellfish (biotic), humans (biotic)
The way water pollution could negatively impact them is that it could kill them because they live in the water. This could be fought off by reducing the amount of waste that gets dumped into the ocean. Bad location could hurt them because the water could be bad for them or there could not be the right food for them there. The way this could be fought off is to make sure the BLobfish stay in their natural habitat. Lack of mollusks could hurt them because that is what they eat and if there were not anything like that they could die. We can fight this by not hurting the ocean and killing those things off. Humans play a big role in impacting them negatively because we kill them off and they are slowly becomeing more and more endangered. We can stop this by regilang and making sure we dont harm them.
TRANSPORT
Osmosis is the spontaneous net movement of solvent molecules through a semi-permeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration. Osmosis is the same thing as diffusion but for water. The blobfish would need to go through this to minimize the difference in concentration of different molecules.
Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of higher concentration to one of lower concentration. This is basically like down a gradient. the blobfish does this to get rod of waste from its cells.

ADAPTATION
Swim bladder: The blobfish live off the coasts of Australia and Tasmania. They live in depths between 600-1200 meters. Since the pressure is 80 times greater than sea level the swim bladder is completely useless since this is usually used to keep fish buoyant and it would be greatly condensed under such pressure.
Muscles: also for the reason mentioned above the blobfish does not need any muscles. As you can imagine life at such depths could be difficult. The blobfish does not have to bother to move around much since it just eats dead things.
Gelatinous body: the blobfish has a jelly-like body. The flesh has a lower density than water. this lets them swim around just a few feet above the floor of the ocean

ORGANISM INTERACTION
The blobfish belongs to the Animilia kingdom. They reproduce sexually, have cells but not cell walls and are multicellular organisms.
Biotic: Humans, predators, lack of animals they feed on.
Abiotic: water quality, temperature, pollution
Humans can really negatively affect the blobfish. In fact they do. The blobfish are an extinct animal that only lives in Australia. Even though they are not edible people hunt the fish and try to sell them at fish markets. these days people will do anything for money. Even though there are a few who do care about the environment we still keep polluting it and there are still oil spills even if we try to regulate them. this can also hurt the blobfish.
The blobfish actually does not follow any of these 3 relationships though it does follow the preditor-prey relationship since it feeds on small urchins and mullusks
One innate behavior the blobfish has is to surface for air every so often. The fish is born knowing this. another innate behavior is to be lazy and just chill around since it has no muscle ever since it is born.
